Author visits:
If you would like me to visit your school and run workshops, please contact me. I am pleased to run workshops and sessions for all year groups. My visits can focus on most subject areas and topics. Please let me know if you have something specific in mind, but I have plenty of ideas for sessions that have worked well, or fresh ideas for your individual needs, relating to my books.
Art/design talks and workshops:
If you are a busy teacher or lecturer and would like your Art, Design or Textiles students to develop their research and problem-solving skills, I will be happy to come to your school to help them to develop their sketchbooks, analytical and practical techniques. By bringing Art or Design History to the classroom and learning how to respond to it, students become better acquainted with exam board requirements and learn how they can raise their grades.
Art/design history lectures:
I give many talks and lectures on Art or Design History for a variety of audiences, from corporate to independent - groups small or large. Revealing some fascinating facts and incredible insights, these illustrated talks can cover any aspect of art or design history, at whatever level you require.
I can visit schools, businesses, community groups, libraries, bookshops and art groups in Essex, London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Suffolk, Norfolk and Hertfordshire. Sometimes I travel to other counties, so please ask. If you are interested in any of the above, please contact me. "Susie Hodge visited us for a one day workshop. She worked with both Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils. We were impressed by her professional approach and her ability to quickly relate to both children and adults during her presentations and practical workshops. She was well-organised and prepared. All activities and resources were very suitable for the pupils. The children were enthusiastic and during the workshop tasks used co-operation and teamwork skills throughout the session. We feel that the children benefited greatly from the experience and are now more aware of the complexities of producing information books." "Good pace - all the children could follow well." "Your work with our Year 8 students was an exciting experience for them. The sessions were well-balanced, giving each student responsibility whilst working as a team. You were very adept at dealing with the mixture of students and always seemed to get the response needed. Your instructions and explanations were clear and you were always amenable, working well with us at school as part of the team." "The children loved it all." "We thought the content [of the workshop] was excellent . . . you have a fantastic way with children - and you are very encouraging!" "Thank you so much for today. The children had a great time, both in assembly and in their classes. They have produced some excellent work and I know the teachers were also highly appreciative of your expertise and enthusiasm. We were as one in saying how readily we would recommend your services to colleagues at other schools."
"Thank you so much for coming to visit us. Your visit went down very well and I know every single member of staff whose classes you took was impressed. One of my colleagues has asked to have you back…it is clear that your sessions with the students had a positive impact…"
"Thank you for coming to our school and delivering your workshops to our 6th form art students. Your knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm was unique and invaluable, my colleagues and I have all commented on how much you got out of the students and how much motivation you seem to have instilled into each one!"
"Thank you so much for today. We all agreed that you really lifted the kids' spirits and were a breath of fresh air! Thank you for making it so easy for us today, you are a true professional!"
